Springs & UpThrusts Signal

The Springs & UpThrusts signal identifies key turning points in the market by analyzing price waves and volume behavior. These setups are most powerful when there's confluence with supply/demand structures, such as zones defined by TCumulativeDelta or TAutoStructure.

Signal Definitions

SPSpring (Buy Signal) A move below a known low, followed by strong upward rejection. Signals potential accumulation or shakeout.

UTUpThrust (Sell Signal) A move above a known high, followed by sharp reversal. Signals potential distribution or trap breakout.

How It Works

To confirm a Spring or UpThrust:

  • Price must break below or above a previous swing (into prior structure)
  • There must be volume or delta confirmation (exhaustion, absorption, trap volume)
  • Look for sharp rejections, not slow reversals

Springs behave like a springboard — they launch upward after shaking out weak hands. UpThrusts thrust upward, then fail violently — often leaving late buyers trapped.

Best Practices

  • Use TCumulativeDelta to spot divergence or effort/reward imbalance
  • Validate structure with TAutoStructure
  • Watch for volume cliffs, hidden absorption, or low commitment follow-through
